Have you ever wanted to work with athletes and their injuries? Athletes look to sports medicine professionals for guidance regarding training techniques, injury risk reduction, diagnosis, and treatment of sports-related problems.
The Sports Medicine Class is designed for students to learn about medical issues associated with sports from joint pain to osteoarthritis to nutrition. Topics covered in this class include: athletic training, physical therapy, medicine, fitness, exercise physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, injury risk reduction, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency injury management and administrative functions. This class will have a hands-on application in order to provide students with an avenue to explore these fields. Through these connections, students will understand the importance of exercise, nutrition and treatment modalities and the role they play in the physically active community.
