Diesel Internship

Pathway: Transportation, Distribution & Logistics Pathways
Grade: 12   
Credit: 3 Fine Practical Arts

Instructor: Ellen Gutierrez

This course is designed to prepare students to enter the workforce through on-the-job training in the form of an internship. Students will have the opportunity to learn advanced diesel skills through supervised practical experience on the job to become effective diesel technicians.

Prerequisite:  Successful Completion of Diesel 3 & 4 and Instructor Recommendation

Required Supplies for Diesel Automotive Technology: ​​​​​​Required supplies - student-provided

  • Interim Uniform Pants: Durable work pants (jeans or cargo pants). (No sweatpants or shorts allowed).
  • Interim Uniform Shirt: Plain shirt (to be worn temporarily until official uniform shirts arrive).
  • Footwear: Safety-toe boots (Steel or Composite toe). Must be slip-resistant. Both tie-up and slip-on styles are acceptable.

Required supplies - school-provided

  • Shop Shirt: Official button-up partner uniform shirt.
  • Hand Protection: Work gloves.
  • Eye Protection: Safety glasses. (The first pair is provided free by the program; replacement pairs cost $2.00).

Optional supplies - student-provided

  • Program Apparel: Short-sleeve shirts, long-sleeve shirts, and hoodies will be available for purchase through Washington Square after the school year begins.

Academic & study supplies - student-provided

  • Device: Fully charged Chromebook (must be brought to class daily).
  • Binder Setup: (1) 3-ring binder (any color, 2”–3” size) and (1) pack of 5-subject dividers.
  • Note-Taking: At least (1) single-subject spiral notebook and (1) pack of pencils.
