Middle school students from across the district, and the county had the opportunity to attend the Adams County Career Expo in September and learn more about future career options.

The district's FutureForward programs were front and center, giving eighth graders the opportunity to hear from and engage with career and technical education (CTE) students from our Bollman and Washington Square campuses.

Over the course of the two days, more than 6,000 eighth grade students from across Adams County got to see and visit with current FutureForward students and industry professionals in a variety of programs and fields.

Dystina Valdez (‘27), a second year Construction Management student, was busy helping students drive nails and screws using a variety of power tools. Through the noise of students learning, she offered her thoughts about the event.

“This event is very important because FutureForward puts the word out for our 8th graders, and we hope that it excites them to take our classes when they are in high school,” said Valdez.

Jasper Pfannenstiel (‘27), a second year Firefighting student, took a break from helping students simulate breaking down a door using the forceful entry prop to share his perspective on the event.

“The career expo opens kids' eyes to the different fields that are possible," said Pfannenstiel. "It gives them a little glimpse into what kind of things you do in each field, and hopefully, it catches their attention and they go into that field.”
