A message from our Principal - Mr. Marvin LewisWelcome to the 2022 - 2023 school year!  On behalf of our teachers, staff, and administration, I want you to know that we are excited to share the upcoming school year with each of you.

As you walk the halls at Future Forward @ Washington Square,  you will see industry professionals teaching hands-on, real world skills in Welding, Construction, Diesel Technology, EMT, Firefighting, CSI, Law Enforcement, and Sports Medicine. Students are connected to learning in their career pathway while having the ability to not only earn college credit but industry relevant certifications.

I’m excited as we continue to expand our programming, specifically in the area of Sports Medicine with academic credit in English and Mathematics credit in Construction.  We continue to work with our industry partners to expand our work based learning opportunities in the areas of internships and job shadowing.  Our school continues to add additional industry partners to expand opportunities for our students.

I am honored to lead our school as principal, and I love seeing the passion our students develop learning high level skills in their career pathway. When I'm not at Washington Square supporting our students and staff, you can find me restoring classic muscle cars and spending time with my family and friends.

I look forward to connecting with our students, parents, and community in the school year ahead.  It is a great day (and exciting time!) to be part of Future Forward @ Washington Square.

Marvin Lewis

FutureForward unifies all of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming across Adams 12 Five Star Schools and gives all students a competitive advantage as they enter college, career or the military.

Students in FutureForward:

  • Explore opportunities that prepare them for high-demand careers and give them an edge entering college.
  • Engage in authentic, hands-on learning.
  • Equip themselves with relevant, rigorous and practical skills.

FutureForward career pathways are based on the state and national Career Cluster model in an effort to help learners navigate their way to greater success in career and college. The pathways are intentionally developed to provide links between secondary and post-secondary options. In the process, the pathways help learners to discover where their interests and passions lie.

FutureForward Advantages

FutureForward is proud to partner with industry leaders to provide participating students with unique opportunities to advance their education, earn industry certificates or earn work-based learning opportunities in many career pathways. Additionally, most FutureForward programs offer the opportunity for students to earn college credit that can be used at both two- and four-year higher education institutions. To learn more about how to receive college credit, contact a FutureForward or high school counselor.

Who Can Participate in FutureForward Programs?

Any current 9th, 10th, or 11th grade students in an Adams 12 Five Star Schools high school, charter school, or alternative high school may apply to take CTE classes at a FutureForward campus in their 10th, 11th or 12th grade year. From nursing to welding, graphic design to engineering and much more; FutureForward offers all students the opportunity to pursue a career path that interests them.
