My name is Heather Hatfield-Schlenker and I am the Instructor for the new Future Forward-Washington Square Crime Scene Investigation course. I look forward to bringing all of my real-life experience, cases and networking opportunities to the students in order to provide them the best hands-on career pathway as possible. In the past I have been given several opportunities to be a Guest Lecturer in several Adams 12 Five Star Schools and I now look forward to teaching my passion full-time.
A little about my background is I have been working in the forensic field since 2005. I recently retired from the Thornton Police Department at the end of August 2019 after almost 10 years there as a Senior Criminalist. Since 2016, I have been an Adjunct Instructor for Louisiana State University and during school breaks I travel around the country training law enforcement and forensic professionals in Advanced Forensics in Hazardous Environments. I am certified as a Senior Crime Scene Analyst and Bloodstain Pattern Analyst through the International Association of Identification. I am the current President of the Rocky Mountain Division of the International Association of Identification and the Past-President of the Rocky Mountain Association of Bloodstain Analysts.
On my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our three children and two dogs. You can often find me coaching our girls in cheerleading or being a room parent for one or both of their classes. We love to be outdoors and glamping as much as life and the weather will let us.
I look forward to providing your Future Forward student a hands-on reality closer than most can get in the average forensic science course. If you have any questions, my doors is open so please feel free to reach out and contact me.
