State Job Opportunities
The Colorado Department of Transportation is currently hiring across the state! We advertise a wide variety of jobs, from entry-level to executives. Most common are our Highway Maintenance Specialists that plow snow and maintain the roadways and our Civil Engineers that design roadways and oversee construction. We also hire for a wide variety of other technical and professional jobs.
We have an ongoing need for temporary and permanent Highway Maintenance Specialists across the State. These positions require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), class A or B, a passion for public safety, and two years of heavy equipment operation and/or labor experience. The typical starting salary for our Permanent Highway Maintenance Workers is $3,266 a month, with extensive benefits, possible housing stipend (depending on location), and are eligible for a 5% increase after a year.
- *Location Spotlight* - We are struggling finding candidates to fill our Eisenhower Tunnel (Dillon) and Denver area (Northwest Denver, Northeast Denver, Southwest Denver) positions.
Temporary Highway Maintenance Specialists start at $23 an hour, or $1,993 biweekly (based on 40 hours work week). Our Temporary positions work for CDOT for 9 months or less.
- *Please Spread the Word! CDOT is Holding In-Person Career Fairs Across the State* - We also have a posting up on the state jobs website at https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/colorado/jobs/3220775/cdot-career-fairs-sept-oct-maintenance-positions to advertise the fairs. These fairs will include on-site applications, interviewing, and possibly even conditional job offers for temporary and permanent positions.
In addition, we're hiring for a few entry-level Highway Maintenance Trainee positions focused on learning about CDOT's maintenance operations while pursuing a Class A or B CDL.
Both permanent and temporary positions are also eligible for 1.5 X overtime pay, shift differential pay and on-call pay.
