Principals of Engineering

Pathway: Engineering Technologies


Grades: 10, 11, 12
Credit: 1 Fine/Practical Arts or Elective


This course introduces students to the foundational concepts of engineering through hands-on design, 3D modeling, and manufacturing. Students will explore the engineering design process while learning how to create and interpret technical drawings, develop 3D models using SOLIDWORKS, and bring their ideas to life through 3D printing and machining. Emphasizing both creativity and precision, this course helps students build the technical and problem-solving skills needed in modern engineering fields. Students will also prepare for and have the opportunity to earn the Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) credential.


Counseling Notes:
1. Students that complete this course may be eligible to test for Solidworks certification. This certification may be used to demonstrate competency for new graduation guidelines. 
2. Students should have a good understanding of basic algebraic mathematics.
3. This course is recommended for students interested in design and engineering.
