
Intro to Mental Health Careers 1 & 2
Pathway: Human Services
Grades: 10,11,12
Credit: 1 Fine/Practical Arts or Elective
This program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the behavioral/mental health fields. Students will:
- Explore educational and professional behavioral health career pathways
- Study common behavioral and mental health disorders and recognize signs of mental health distress
- Apply legal, professional, and ethical considerations important to the delivery of safe and effective behavioral health care
- Identify various communication techniques, including therapeutic communication and motivational interviewing, to assist in developing the skills needed to build therapeutic relationships with clients and improve patient outcomes in behavioral health settings
- Create a resource notebook, life skills class, and multiple project based learning assignments to take with them into the field.

- Students may have the opportunity to earn college credits.
