Intro to Behavioral and Mental Health 1 & 2

2 Practical Arts/Elective
This program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the behavioral/mental health fields. Students will:
- Explore educational and professional behavioral health career pathways
- Define common behavioral and mental health disorders and spectra
- Describe the settings used in the delivery of behavioral health care, to include staff roles
- Apply legal, professional, and ethical considerations important to the delivery of safe and effective behavioral health care
- Identify various communication techniques, including therapeutic communication and motivational interviewing, to assist in developing the skills needed to build therapeutic relationships with clients and improve patient outcomes in behavioral health settings
Students have the opportunity to receive college credit for PSY 1001, PTE 1010, and PSY 1002.
