Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing 1 & 2

Grades: 10, 11, 12
Credit: 2.0
Location: Bollman

Auto Collision Repair Technicians find their skills increasingly valued as more vehicles fill the roads and a greater number of traffic accidents damage these vehicles.  As OEM vehicles continue to incorporate sophisticated new materials and increasing complex design technologies in their vehicles, the collision repair industry will face on ongoing need for repair technicians.  Students in FutureForward’s Auto Collision Repair program will learn to assess the damage, remove and install parts, straighten bent frames, remove dents, replace sections, and paint the car body. In addition, students learn how to estimate a repair job and obtain the entrepreneurial skills to operate their own business. Analyzing what is needed to complete the repair and taking the job to completion involves both problem-solving skills and critical thinking. Collision repair and refinishing is a challenging, lucrative, and a rewarding career, especially as vehicles become more diverse and high-tech in their construction. All students will have the opportunity to obtain an industry relevant I-CAR certification.  I-CAR, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair, plays a major role in supplying the industry with well-trained, knowledgeable and highly employable collision repair professionals.
